DOG ACT 1976 - SECT 33GB
33GB . Dangerous dogs (restricted breed) to be sterilised
(1) The owner of a
dangerous dog (restricted breed) that has reached 3 months of age must ensure
that the dog is sterilised.
Penalty:
(a) a
fine of $10 000, but the minimum penalty is a fine of $500;
(b) for
each separate and further offence committed by the person under the
Interpretation Act 1984 section 71, a fine of $500.
(2) It is a defence to
a charge of an offence under subsection (1) if the person charged satisfies
the court that the dog —
(a) has
a physical condition that is likely to cause the dog to die if it is
sterilised; or
(b) is
sterile.
