What are libraries?

A subject-specific library consists of three components: (i) aggregation of existing specialised databases; (ii) creation of 'virtual databases' by extracting or selecting content from existing general databases; and (iii) creation of facilities to extend the scope of the subject-oriented research beyond the available content within a particular system.
