Welcome to the AustLII Online Tutorial. This is the second version of an on-line tutorial designed to help you get the most out of using AustLII as a tool for legal research. Comments and suggestions are welcome at feedback.
The tutorial comes in three flavours. The content is the same -- what is different is the way it is arranged. You should pick the flavour best suited to you and your browser.
FRAMED (1): Your screen will be divided into two frames (the lesson and a practice pad). Your browser must support a feature called "frames". This is for lower-resolution monitors (such as older "VGA" monitors).
FRAMED (2): Your screen is divided into two frames as above, but vertically instead of horizontally. Good for high resolution monitors that can fit a lot on the one screen.
NO FRAMES: For users using browsers without frames support (such as Lynx or WebExplorer). You will have to jump back and forth between the tutorial and AustLII's pages, or perhaps print out the tutorial.
So pick the version that most suits you above and proceed to the lessons. For all of the "Framed" lessons, it is reccommended that you maximise your browser window (covered in the introduction if you don't know how to do this).
(NOTE: If you're using Netscape or a browser that supports forms, we don't reccommend you trying to use the NO FRAMES option. This is because links will create new windows on your desktop when you click on them, which can be annoying.)
