Management

  Andrew Mowbray (Co-Director)

Andrew is the principal software author and technical director of AustLII. He has degrees in Computing Science and Law. He wrote the sino search engine, the hypertext markup software, and the ysh inferencing engine. Pre-AustLII, Andrew wrote the DataLex Workstation Software, the AIRS free text retrieval engine and the LES legal expert system shell. He teaches and publishes in computerised legal research, computerisation of law and information technology law.

Graham has joint responsibility for the overall development and direction of AustLII and WorldLII. He has general responsibility for AustLII's funding, obtaining new data sources, and the WorldLII / Project DIAL facilities. He has degrees in Arts and Law, and is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society. He has researched and taught in the areas of intellectual property, privacy, cyberspace law and computerisation of law since 1982.

Philip is a graduate in Economics and Law from the University of Sydney, with a major in Computer Science. Philip manages the staff and resources of AustLII and jointly oversees the technical development of AustLII's projects and system administration. In addition to his responsibilities as AustLII's Executive Director Philip manages our primary legal materials, and has developed all of our facilities to automate the receipt and processing of cases and other materials. Philip lectures in computerised legal research at UTS. He is experienced in large scale legal publishing on the Internet, computerised legal research, computer legal applications and automated text processing.

Cathy is responsible for keeping everyone organised and making sure that the finances and administration of AustLII are in good working order. Her duties include budget preparation and monitoring; maintaining office accounts; office administration; liaising with UTS and UNSW faculties; handling enquiries and assisting with promotional activities and conferences.
     
  Armin Wittfoth (Project Officer, Primary Materials)

Armin has degrees in Science, Arts and Laws from Sydney University.  He was also awarded Diploma in Mainframe Programming by a joint venture of TAFE and IBM. Armin is currently working on AustLII's primary legal materials, as well as on AustLII's project to automate improvements to the authority and interactivity of primary legal materials. His duties also include converting data for publication on the Internet, maintaining and updating databases of primary legal materials including the NSW, Queensland and Victorian legislation databases.
     
  Jones Olatunji (System Administrator)

Jones is a graduate of Electrical Engineering from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria and holds a Masters degree in Information and Communication Technology from the University of Wollongong. Jones is, with Philip Chung, jointly responsible for AustLII's system administration. His duties include administering servers running email, web pages, databases, firewalls and other applications; configuration, optimisation, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware and software; backup and recovery of data; and site security.
     
  Trevor Roydhouse (Systems Developer)

Trevor holds BJuris, LLB and LLM degrees from UNSW. He previously worked for the law publisher CCH Australia Limited where he held the positions of Editor, Senior Editor, Senior Analyst, Electronic Product Developer and IT Consultant during his 20 year career with the company. Trevor works on AustLII's primary legal materials including the Commonwealth, ACT, Northern Territory, South Australian, Tasmanian, Victorian and WA legislation databases, all Bills and explanatory notes databases, the Australian Taxation Office Rulings and Determinations databases, the Australian Treaties Library and the AustLII Toolbar. He maintains AustLII's comprehensive online help and is also responsible for managing the AustLII Feedback system.

David holds a Law degree and Arts degree (History and Philosophy of Science) from UNSW. He is a former practising solicitor (credit and debt and public interest cases with community legal centres), and also a former IT and communications consultant focussing on databases and online collaborative systems for professionals and advocates. He is seconded part time from UNSW, where he also runs the Cyberspace Law and Policy Centre.
     
  Annelies Moens (External Relations Manager)

Annelies manages and builds the relations with AustLII's users and contributors. Annelies has extensive experience in the public and private sectors and previously has managed teams undertaking copyright negotiations, privacy compliance and policy development. Annelies holds an international MBA from the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School, Belgium and Bachelor of Laws (Hons), Science and Arts from the University of Queensland, Australia.
     
  Kent Soesanto (Project Officer)

Kent holds engineering and science degrees (electrical and computing) from UNSW. He was an assistant administrator in the UTS faculty of Business from 2006-2008. His responsibilities include managing and updating databases for the AsianLII website.
     
  Rajan Sharma (Systems Developer)

Rajan holds an MSc in Software Engineering degree from the University of Oxford, and BE (Hons) in Communication Engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He has over 10 years of international commercial software development experience. His current responsibilities include development, management, and automation of databases on the AsianLII website.

Joni is a third year Arts (Media and Communications)/Law student at the University of Sydney. Her responsibilities includes processing data and obtaining permission to republish information for the ANDS project and the International Law Library.
     
  Ben Hayes (Project Officer)

Ben holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering from UNSW. He has a number of years experience in commercial software development and is currently studying Law - also at UNSW. His responsibilties include processing data for the Legal Scholarship Library and the Victorian model jurisdiction project.
     
  Carol Wong (Project Officer)

Carol holds a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) from UNSW and Bachelor of Laws from Sydney University. She has several years experience in the legal technology and electronic discovery area. Her current responsibilities include processing data for the Australasian Law Reform Library and AustLII's other secondary materials databases.

Qaisar is a software engineer with Intersect Australia Ltd, the peak eResearch organisation in NSW. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems with a Diploma in Engineering Practice from University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and has over nine years experience in the IT industry. His current responsibilities include development of new databases for Victoria on the AustLII website.

Leo is a software developer with Intersect Australia Ltd, the peak eResearch organisation in NSW. He holds BSEE and MSEE degrees from Zhejiang University, China and has 6 years experience in IT industry. Sean is a software developer with Intersect Australia Ltd, the peak eResearch organisation in NSW. Sean holds a bachelor of engineering in computer science from Jiaotong University, Shanghai. He previously worked for telecommunication carriers and has a number of years experience in network and database development. His current responsibilities include development of databases for the Victorian model jurisdiction project.

He has over 15 years experience in commercial software design and development, and his responsibilities include working on the mobile applications project.
