The People's MovementThe People's Movement > Australians for Reconciliation > Learning CirclesA learning circle is a group of people who meet to discuss and learn about issues that concern them, their communities or wider society.A new Learning Circle Kit has been produced by the Council to promote discussion of the issues surrounding reconciliation in the Australian community. It builds on the Australians for Reconciliation Study Circle Kit that was released by the Council in 1993. Join a learning circles group in your community or workplace! Through Learning Circles, groups of interested people can share knowledge, gain understanding and engage in discussion about issues they think are important. Learning Circle Kits help people wishing to know more about Indigenous issues explore them in their own way and at their own pace. Many learning circles have resulted in positive local community actions involving Indigenous and wider community members. Once learning circles are completed, Council asks that groups look seriously at their communities and at what actions groups can take to further the process of reconciliation within their local communities. It is through these actions and by working through the issues in this learning circles that the Council may be able to foster community commitment to reconciliation.
