Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation

Reconciliation Australia
We need your help to keep reconciliation going

Many people are wondering how the work of reconciliation is going to continue after the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation finishes at the end of this year.

Reconciliation Australia Limited will be a foundation which provides national leadership for the reconciliation movement from 1 January 2001. This is part of the National Strategy to Sustain the Reconciliation Process launched by the Council.

Reconciliation Australia Limited will be an independent body and Council hopes it will be funded and supported by all sectors of the Australian community. Fundraising for the foundation has started well, with over $70,000 raised by a gold coin donation from those walking for reconciliation across the SydneyHarbour Bridge on May 28. Reconciliation Australia and the Council greatly appreciate the support that Australians have shown for the future of reconciliation.

A trust fund has been established to hold donations until Reconciliation Australia Limited is fully operational on 1 January 2001.

Your support for the foundation will help to keep the people's movement for reconciliation going and help achieve the Council's vision of:

A united Australia which respects this land of ours;
values the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage; and
provides justice and equity for all.
