LOCAL COURTS ACT 1904 - SECT 29
29 . Appearance may be in person or by a legal practitioner
A party to an action
or other proceeding under this Act, or a legal practitioner retained by or on
behalf of the party on either side, or any person allowed by special leave of
the magistrate in any case to appear instead of the party, may address the
court and examine and cross-examine the witnesses, but subject to the rules of
court and the orders of the magistrate for the orderly transaction of the
business of the court.
Provided that on the
hearing of an application under this Act or the Debtors Act 1871 , by a
judgment creditor for the committal of a judgment debtor, the judgment
creditor shall be entitled to be represented by any clerk or servant in the
employ or subject to the control or direction of the judgment creditor or his
solicitor.
