Western Australian Consolidated Regulations (1) In an emergency
such as a fire, an explosion or a natural disaster, the Commissioner of Main
Roads may exempt a vehicle, or the driver or operator of a vehicle, from a
provision of these regulations if —
(a) the
vehicle is being used, or is intended to be used, to protect life or property,
or to restore communications or the supply of energy or water or services such
as sewage disposal; and
(b) the
exemption does not present an unreasonable danger to other road users.
(2) The Commissioner
of Main Roads may make an exemption subject to conditions.
(3) The Commissioner
of Main Roads must make a written record of the exemption, and any conditions
to which it is subject, but the exemption may be communicated orally to the
driver or operator of the vehicle.
