Western Australian Consolidated Acts In dealing with a
young person who is reasonably believed to have committed or to have been
about to commit an offence, a member of the Police Force is to consider
whether, in the circumstances, it is appropriate —
(a) to
give the person a caution for the offence in accordance with section 22;
(b)
under section 27, to refer the matter for consideration by a juvenile
justice team;
(c) to
charge the person without taking the person into custody;
(d) to
apprehend, charge and —
(i)
subject to the Bail Act 1982 and section 19(2),
detain the person in custody pending the person’s appearance in court;
or
(ii)
release the person pending the consideration of the
matter by a juvenile justice team.
