SCHOOL EDUCATION ACT 1999 - SECT 163A
163A . Surrender of certificate of registration
(1) The governing body
of a school is to surrender to the chief executive officer the certificate of
registration of the school within 14 days after the governing body is notified
in writing that —
(a) the
registration of the school is cancelled under section 167; or
(b) the
renewal of the registration of the school is refused under section 160(4)(b);
or
(c) the
certificate is to be surrendered under this section because a certificate is
to be issued under section 162(2) as information recorded in the register in
respect of the school has been amended.
Penalty: a fine of $5 000.
(2) It is a defence to
a prosecution for an offence against subsection (1) for the governing body to
show that the failure to surrender the certificate is due to its loss or
destruction.
