SCHOOL EDUCATION ACT 1999 - SECT 143
143 . Objects of and limits on associations
(1) The objects of an
association are to promote the interests of the school or group of schools for
which it is formed through —
(a)
cooperation between parents, teachers, students and members of the general
community; and
(b)
assisting in the provision of resources, facilities and amenities for the
school or schools; and
(c) the
fostering of community interest in educational matters.
(2) An association
cannot —
(a)
intervene in the control or management of a school; or
(b)
intervene in the educational instruction of students; or
(c)
exercise authority over teaching staff or other persons employed at the
school.
(3) An association is
not to expend its funds that are in excess of administrative costs otherwise
than for the benefit of students at a government school.
(4) The constitution
of an association must at all times be consistent with this section.
