ROYAL COMMISSIONS ACT 1968 - SECT 14
14 . Contempt: failing to be sworn or to give evidence when summoned
(1) A person served
with a summons under section 9 requiring the person to attend a Commission and
give evidence who —
(a)
refuses to be sworn or make an affirmation; or
(b)
fails to answer any question relevant to the investigation that the Commission
requires the person to answer,
is in contempt of the
Commission.
(2) Despite
section 31(2), a person required by the Commission to answer a question
relevant to the inquiry is not excused from the requirement to answer the
question on the ground that the answer might incriminate or tend to
incriminate the person or render the person liable to a penalty.
