PROTECTIVE CUSTODY ACT 2000 - SECT 21
21 . Apprehended person to be taken before a JP promptly
(1) An authorised
officer who under section 13(3), 17(2) or 18 is required to take an
apprehended person, or arrange for the person to be taken, before a JP must do
so as soon as practicable and must not delay doing so except, in the case of a
police officer, for the minimum time necessary to meet the reasonable
organizational requirements of the police station concerned.
(2) The reasons for
any delay in taking a person, or arranging for a person to be taken, before a
JP must be recorded by the officer.
