28 . Reservation of blocks
(1) The Minister may,
by instrument published in the Gazette , declare that a block specified in the
instrument (not being a block in respect of which a petroleum exploration
permit, petroleum drilling reservation, petroleum retention lease or petroleum
production licence is in force) shall not be the subject of a petroleum
exploration permit, petroleum drilling reservation, petroleum retention lease,
petroleum production licence, petroleum special prospecting authority or
petroleum access authority.
(1a) The Minister may,
by instrument published in the Gazette , declare that a block specified in the
instrument (not being a block in respect of which a geothermal exploration
permit, geothermal drilling reservation, geothermal retention lease or
geothermal production licence is in force) shall not be the subject of a
geothermal exploration permit, geothermal drilling reservation, geothermal
retention lease, geothermal production licence, geothermal special prospecting
authority or geothermal access authority.
(2) While a
declaration under subsection (1) remains in force in respect of a block, a
petroleum exploration permit, petroleum drilling reservation, petroleum
retention lease, petroleum production licence, petroleum special prospecting
authority or petroleum access authority shall not be granted in respect of
that block.
(3) While a
declaration under subsection (1a) remains in force in respect of a block, a
geothermal exploration permit, geothermal drilling reservation, geothermal
retention lease, geothermal production licence, geothermal special prospecting
authority or geothermal access authority shall not be granted in respect of
that block.
