MOTOR VEHICLE (THIRD PARTY INSURANCE) ACT 1943 - SECT 18
18 . Power to suspend or cancel licences
(1) Any police officer
or constable or the Commission may apply to the Magistrates Court for an order
that any person be disqualified for such period as the court fixes from
holding and obtaining a driver’s licence under the
Road Traffic (Authorisation to Drive) Act 2008 .
(2) If it is proved to
the satisfaction of the court that the defendant is likely, in the event of
his continuing to drive motor vehicles, to endanger unduly the safety of the
public the court may make such order under subsection (1) as it thinks fit.
(3) This section is
supplementary to section 105 of the Sentencing Act 1995 .
