Western Australian Consolidated Acts (1) This section
applies if a local practising certificate granted to an Australian legal
practitioner —
(a) is
amended, cancelled or suspended by the Board or because of an order under
Part 13; or
(b) is
replaced by another certificate.
(2) The Board may give
the practitioner a notice requiring the practitioner to return the certificate
to the Board in the way specified in the notice within a specified period of
not less than 14 days.
(3) The practitioner
must comply with a notice, unless the practitioner has a reasonable excuse.
Penalty: a fine of $2 000.
(4) The Board must
return the practising certificate to the practitioner as soon as
practicable —
(a) if
the certificate is amended — after amending it; or
(b) if
the certificate is suspended and is still current at the end of the suspension
period — at the end of the suspension period.
