Western Australian Consolidated Acts (1)(a) The Board shall
appoint as State Librarian a person who is a qualified librarian.
(b) The
person appointed to the office of State Librarian shall, by virtue of that
office, be the Executive Officer and Secretary of the Board.
(c) The
Board may appoint such other officers as are required for the purpose of
carrying out the Board’s functions in pursuance of this Act.
(2) The State
Librarian and other officers shall not be appointed under Part 3 of the
Public Sector Management Act 1994 but shall be entitled to such leave of
absence and to such rights prescribed by or pursuant to the provisions of the
Superannuation and Family Benefits Act 1938 4 , as would apply if
they were appointed under the provisions of that Part.
(3) Notwithstanding
anything in this section, to the extent that there is in the case of a person
who is appointed under this section to be the State Librarian or any other
officer and who is a member of the Senior Executive Service within the meaning
of the Public Service Act 1978 5 an inconsistency between this Act and
that Act that Act shall prevail.
