Western Australian Consolidated Acts (1) At the first
meeting of the Council and thereafter at the first meeting of the Council held
after 30 June in each year the members of the Council shall elect from
among their number a Deputy Chairman.
(2) Subject to
subsection (3) a person elected to the office of Deputy Chairman of the
Council shall hold office until the next election for that office is held
under subsection (1), but is eligible for re-election.
(3) The office of
Deputy Chairman of the Council becomes vacant if —
(a) the
person holding the office resigns the office by notice in writing to the
Chairman;
(b) the
person holding the office ceases to be a member of the Council;
(c) the
person holding the office is appointed to be the Chairman.
(4) Where a casual
vacancy occurs in the office of Deputy Chairman the members of the Council
shall elect one of their number to hold the office until the next election is
held under subsection (1).
