53A . Object of this Part
(1) The object of this
Part is —
(a) to
address concerns, including ethical concerns, about scientific developments in
relation to human reproduction and the utilisation of human embryos by
prohibiting certain practices; and
(b) to
adopt in this State a uniform Australian approach to the prohibitions.
(2) For that purpose,
this Part creates a number of offences that are similar to offences under the
Prohibition of Human Cloning Act 2002 of the Commonwealth.
