GOVERNMENT RAILWAYS ACT 1904 - SECT 32
32 . Goods of unknown owner etc. left on railway, sale of
(1) If any goods are
left on a railway, and the owner thereof, or the person liable for the charges
thereon, is not known, the Authority may cause it to be publicly notified
that, unless in the meantime they are removed and the charges thereon paid,
they will be sold upon a day named in such notice, being not less than one
month from the publication thereof.
(2) If the goods are
not removed and the charges thereon paid before that day, then they may be
sold.
(3) If any goods left
on a railway are perishable, the Authority may direct the sale thereof
forthwith without notice, and if such goods cause offence or create a nuisance
may cause them to be destroyed at the expense of the owner.
