Western Australian Consolidated Acts (1) Where the Governor
is of opinion that any emergency has arisen, or is likely to arise, he may by
proclamation declare that all dealers and manufacturers and repairers of
firearms in the State, or in any specified portion of the State, having
firearms or ammunition in their possession —
(a)
shall render the same innocuous by a method to be specified in the
declaration;
(b)
shall deliver the same, or any parts or kinds of the same specified in the
declaration, within a time and at a place so specified, to the Commissioner or
any specified member of the Police Force, for the purpose of safe keeping.
(2) A person who fails
to comply with the requirements of a proclamation made under
subsection (1) commits a crime and is liable, on conviction, to
imprisonment for 5 years.
Summary conviction penalty: Imprisonment for
18 months or a fine of $6 000.
