Western Australian Consolidated Acts (1) An application for
registration of a political party is to be made in accordance with this
section.
(2) The application
can only be made for the registration of an eligible political party.
(3) The application is
to be made by the secretary of the party.
(4) The application is
to be made to the Electoral Commissioner in a form approved by the Electoral
Commissioner for the purposes of this section, and is to —
(a)
state a name for the political party;
(b) if
the political party wishes to use an abbreviation of its name on ballot papers
for elections — set out the abbreviation;
(c) set
out the name and address of the secretary of the political party;
(d) set
out the names and addresses of at least 500 members of the party who are
electors;
(e) be
accompanied by a copy of the party’s constitution; and
(f) set
out any other prescribed information and be accompanied by a copy of any other
prescribed document.
(5) Applications for
registration of political parties are to be determined in the order in which
they are received by the Electoral Commissioner.
