DOG ACT 1976 - SECT 47
47 . Veterinary service expenses recoverable from local government
(1) In this section
—
representative , in relation to a local
government, means —
(a) a
person who is an authorised person by virtue of an appointment or designation
made by that local government; or
(b) an
employee of the local government,
who, at the relevant time, is performing a
function on behalf of the local government.
(2) A local government
is liable to pay for the veterinary services requested in respect of a dog by
a representative of the local government.
(3) A veterinarian who
provides services in respect of a dog at the request of a local
government’s representative may recover the amount of the costs for the
services from the local government in a court of competent jurisdiction.
