Western Australian Consolidated Acts In this Act, unless
the context requires otherwise —
Aboriginal means pertaining to the original
inhabitants of Australia and to their descendants;
Authority means the Aboriginal Affairs Planning
Authority referred to in section 8;
CEO means the chief executive officer of the
Department;
Committee means the Aboriginal Affairs
Co-ordinating Committee established under section 19;
Council means the Aboriginal Advisory Council
constituted in accordance with the provisions of section 18;
Department means the department of the Public
Service principally assisting in the administration of this Act;
person of Aboriginal descent means any person
living in Western Australia wholly or partly descended from the original
inhabitants of Australia who claims to be an Aboriginal and who is accepted as
such in the community in which he lives;
reserved lands means any area of land to which the
provisions of Part III apply;
the repealed Act means the Native Welfare
Act 1963 ;
the Trust means the Aboriginal Lands Trust
referred to in section 20.
