ADOPTION ACT 1994 - SECT 20

20 .         Specification of prospective adoptive parent

                A person may not be specified as a child’s prospective adoptive parent in a form of consent to the child’s adoption unless the person — 

            (a)         is a — 

                  (i)         step-parent; or

                  (ii)         carer,

                of the child; and

            (b)         wishes to adopt the child.
