AMENDMENT BILL 1998
A BILL FOR
AN ACT to amend the Tobacco Control Act 1990.
The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

Tobacco Control Amendment Bill 1998

Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Tobacco Control Amendment
Act 1998.
Commencement
5 2. This Act comes into operation on the day on which it
receives the Royal Assent.
Principal Act
3. In this Act the Tobacco Control Act 1990* is referred to as
the principal Act.

Section 26 amended
4. Section 26 of the principal Act is amended by deleting
15 subsection (2) and substituting the following --
``
(2) There shall be paid to the Foundation --
(a) in respect of the financial year commencing
1 July 1998 an amount of $16.9 million;
20 and
(b) in respect of each subsequent financial year
an amount of $16.9 million adjusted to
reflect any increase in the Consumer Price
Index, All Groups Index number for Perth,
25 published from time to time by the
Commonwealth Statistician under the

Census And Statistics Act 1905 of the
Commonwealth,
and this subsection appropriates the Consolidated
Fund accordingly.
