A Bill for
An Act to amend these Acts --
· the Road Traffic Act 1974;
· the Road Traffic (Administration) Act 2008.
The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

1 Part 1 -- Preliminary
2 1. Short title
3 This is the Road Traffic Legislation Amendment
4 (Registration Labels) Act 2009.
5 2. Commencement
6 This Act comes into operation as follows --
7 (a) Part 1 -- on the day on which this Act receives the
8 Royal Assent;
9 (b) the rest of the Act -- on 1 January 2010.

3 This Part amends the Road Traffic Act 1974.
4 4. Section 27 amended
5 (1) In section 27(1) delete "granted, and shall upon the grant or
6 renewal of any vehicle licence issue to the applicant a
7 registration label evidencing the grant of the licence." and
8 insert:

12 (2) Delete section 27(2) and (3).
13 5. Section 27AA inserted
14 After section 27 insert:

16 27AA. Labels to be affixed to certain vehicles
17 Regulations may provide for --
18 (a) the Director General to issue a label (label) on
19 the grant or renewal, under this Part, of a
20 vehicle licence for a vehicle of a prescribed
21 class; and
22 (b) specified information about a vehicle to be
23 contained in or on a label for the vehicle; and
24 (c) matters relating to the affixing to vehicles, and
25 display, of labels.

4 (ea) provide for --
5 (i) the Director General to issue a label
6 (label) on the grant, extension or
7 renewal, under this Part, of a vehicle
8 licence for a vehicle of a prescribed
9 class; and
10 (ii) specified information about a vehicle to
11 be contained in or on a label for the
12 vehicle; and
13 (iii) matters relating to the affixing to
14 vehicles, and display, of labels;

16 8. Section 97 amended
17 (1) At the beginning of section 97 insert:

19 (1) In this section --
20 label means a label issued under a regulation
21 mentioned in section 27AA or 40(ea).

23 (2) In section 97:
24 (a) delete "A person" and insert:

28 (b) in paragraphs (c), (d), (e), (f)(i), (ii) and (iii), (g) and (h)
29 delete "registration" (each occurrence).
