Consumer Affairs Amendment Bill 2006
A Bill for
An Act to amend the Consumer Affairs Act 1971 to clarify the
circumstances in which the Commissioner of Fair Trading may bring
or defend proceedings on behalf of consumers.
The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Consumer Affairs Amendment Act
2006.
5 2. Commencement
This Act comes into operation on the day on which it receives the
Royal Assent.

3. The Act amended
The amendments in this Part are to the Consumer Affairs
Act 1971.
5 4. Section 18 amended
Section 18(1) is amended by deleting the words ", where the
amount claimed or involved in either case does not exceed the
sum of $40 000,".
