A Bill for
An Act to amend the Bookmakers Betting Levy Act 1954 and for
related purposes.
The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

1 1. Short title
2 This is the Bookmakers Betting Levy Amendment Act 2009.
3 2. Commencement
4 This Act comes into operation as follows --
5 (a) sections 1 and 2 -- on the day on which this Act
6 receives the Royal Assent;
7 (b) section 5 -- on the day after that day;
8 (c) the rest of the Act is deemed to have come into
9 operation on 1 September 2008.
10 3. Act amended
11 This Act amends the Bookmakers Betting Levy Act 1954.
12 4. Section 2 amended
13 Delete section 2(1)(b) and insert:

15 (b) in respect of a bookmaker's turnover from
16 betting on a designated sporting event approved
17 under the Betting Control Act 1954 section 4A,
18 the rate of 2%.

20 5. Section 2 amended
21 Delete section 2(1)(b) and insert:

23 (b) in respect of a bookmaker's turnover from
24 betting on a designated sporting event approved
25 under the Betting Control Act 1954 section 4A,
26 the rate of 1.5%.
