Victorian Numbered Acts Victorian Numbered Acts(1) The principal of, or a teacher at, a registered school at which a child of compulsory school age is enrolled may ask a parent of the child for an explanation of the reason for the child's failure to attend the school at a time when the school was open for the child's instruction.
(2) The principal must ensure that record in writing is made of the reason (if any) given by the parent.
