41. Property in vehicle



(1) A passenger who finds lost or abandoned property in a vehicle must give
the property to the driver of the vehicle.

Penalty: 1 penalty unit.

(2) The driver of a vehicle must carefully search the vehicle for lost or
abandoned property as soon as a journey is over.

Penalty: 1 penalty unit.

(3) A driver who is given lost or abandoned property under subregulation (1)
or who finds lost or abandoned property in the vehicle must as soon as
practicable give it to the licence holder for the vehicle or the accredited
person who operates the vehicle (as the case requires).

Penalty: 10 penalty units.

(4) If lost or abandoned property is not claimed within 28 days after it is
given to the licence holder or accredited person, the licence holder or
accredited person must give the property as soon as practicable to a member of
the Victoria Police.

Penalty: 10 penalty units.
