Drivers under instruction

220. Drivers under instruction



(1) A person who is driving a motor vehicle and who does not hold a driver
licence that authorises the holder to drive a motor vehicle of that category
is exempted for the purposes of section 18(1) of the Act if-

   (a)  he or she is the holder of a driver licence of another category (other
        than a motor cycle licence); and

   (b)  a person who holds an Australian driver licence which is appropriate
        for the category of vehicle being driven is sitting beside him or her.

(2) A person driving a motor vehicle in accordance with subregulation (1) must
have conspicuously displayed on the front and rear of the motor vehicle a
driver under instruction plate.

Penalty: 2 penalty units.
