Conditional registration
224. Conditional registration
(1) If a vehicle does not comply with the standards for registration, the
Corporation may register the vehicle conditionally.
(2) The Corporation may refuse to register a vehicle conditionally if the
vehicle does not bear an operations plate or identification plate relating to
the vehicle, or for which a certificate of approved operations has not been
issued.
(3) In determining the conditions to be imposed on the registration of a
vehicle, the Corporation must take into account the nature and extent of any
failure of the vehicle to meet the standards for registration.
(4) The Corporation may vary any conditions which it has imposed on the
registration of a vehicle.
(5) The Corporation must notify the registered operator in writing of the
conditions, or any variation in the conditions, applicable to the conditional
registration of a vehicle.
(6) If the Corporation decides to refuse to register a vehicle under this
regulation or to impose or vary the conditions of registration, it must inform
the applicant for registration or the registered operator (as the case may be)
in writing of their rights under Division 9 to an internal and external review
of the decision.
(7) A person must not use, or permit the use of, a vehicle that is
conditionally registered (other than a recreation motor cycle or a vehicle
that has been fitted with an operations plate) without carrying a certificate
of approved operations in the vehicle.
Penalty: 10 penalty units.
