Obtaining information from an engine management system reading device

313D. Obtaining information from an engine management system reading device

For the purposes of section 79A of the Road Safety Act 1986-

   (a)  an engine management system reading device is operated in the manner
        specified in the regulations if the engine management system reading
        device is connected to the electronic control module of a vehicle; and

   (b)  information held in a vehicle's engine management system is derived in
        accordance with the regulations if the information contained in the
        electronic control module relevant to the vehicle's operation is
        transferred-

   (i)  in the case of an engine management system reading device specified in
        regulation 313B(a), to a printer connected to the device; or

   (ii) in the case of an engine management system reading device specified in
        regulation 313B(b), into the device's memory. _______________
