Isolation of plant and services

3.4.8. Isolation of plant and services

An employer must ensure that any risk associated with work in a confined space
in relation to-

   (a)  the introduction of any substance or condition from or by any plant or
        services connected to the space; or

   (b)  the activation or energising in any way of any plant or services
        connected to the space-

is eliminated so far as is reasonably practicable or, if it is not reasonably
practicable to eliminate the risk, is reduced so far as is reasonably
practicable. Note Act compliance-sections 21 and 23 (see regulation 1.1.7).
