Objectives

1. Objectives

The objectives of these Regulations are-

   (a)  to set out the obligations of persons involved in the transport of
        dangerous goods by land; and

   (b)  to reduce as far as practicable the risk of personal injury, death,
        property damage and environmental harm arising from the transport of
        dangerous goods by land; and

   (c)  to give effect to the standards, requirements and procedures of the
        ADG Code so far as they apply to the transport of dangerous goods by
        land; and

   (d)  to promote consistency between the standards, requirements and
        procedures applying to the land transport of dangerous goods and other
        modes of transport; and

   (e)  to make consequential amendments to the Dangerous Goods (Storage and
        Handling) Regulations 2000 and the Dangerous Goods (Explosives)
        Regulations 2000.
