Response to emergencies
444. Response to emergencies
(1) An occupier of premises where dangerous goods are stored and handled must
respond to an emergency at the premises by ensuring that-
(a) immediate action is taken to assess and control any risk associated
with the emergency, including making any plant or equipment associated
with the emergency and the surrounding area safe so far as is
practicable; and
(b) only persons essential to carrying out the action referred to in
paragraph (a) remain in the vicinity of the emergency; and
(c) the risk to each person engaged by the occupier at the premises to
carry out the action referred to in paragraph (a) is reduced so far as
is practicable.
(2) The duties of the occupier under subregulations (1)(b) and (1)(c) do not
extend to members of the emergency services authority responding to the
emergency.
