Induction, information, training and supervision
402. Induction, information, training and supervision
(1) An occupier of premises where dangerous goods are stored and handled must
ensure that a person involved with the storage and handling of dangerous goods
at the premises and any health and safety representative of that person, is
provided with induction, information, training and supervision that is-
(a) in a language or manner appropriate to the person; and
(b) relevant to the tasks undertaken and the risks associated with those
tasks.
(2) An occupier of premises where dangerous goods are stored and handled must
ensure that the induction, information and training provided under
subregulation (1) includes instruction in-
(a) the nature of the hazards and properties of the dangerous goods and
the processes used for the identification, assessment and control of
the risks relevant to the person's duties; and
(b) the purpose, use and maintenance of the measures for the control of
those risks; and
(c) the systems of work and the conduct of persons at the premises in so
far as the systems of work and conduct of persons may affect safe
storage and handling of dangerous goods; and
(d) the operation of the emergency plan for the premises and any
procedures and equipment that may be required for use in the event of
an emergency; and
(e) the proper use and fitting of personal protective equipment.
(3) A record of induction and training activities carried out in accordance
with this regulation must be made and kept for a minimum of 5 years.
