Functions of Advisory Committees

28. Functions of Advisory Committees



(1) The functions of an Advisory Committee are-

   (a)  to consider any matters that are referred to it by the Minister
        relating to-

   (i)  the declaration of Championships venues;

   (ii) the development and establishment of Championships facilities under
        this Act; and

   (b)  if required by the Minister, to carry out public consultation on those
        matters; and

   (c)  to provide a written report to the Minister identifying any issues
        relevant to the choice of an area as a possible Championships venue or
        on any other matters referred to it by the Minister; and

   (d)  to carry out any other functions conferred on an Advisory Committee
        under this Act.

(2) Without limiting subsection (1), the matters referred to in subsection
(1)(a) that the Minister may refer to an Advisory Committee include matters
relating to planning, environment and heritage issues in relation to the
declaration of a Championships venue or the development and establishment of
Championships facilities under this Act (as the case requires).

(3) It is not a function of an Advisory Committee to make recommendations to
the Minister as to the site of a Championships venue.

(4) Subject to section 29, in carrying out its functions in relation to a
matter referred to it by the Minister, an Advisory Committee may inquire into
and inform itself in relation to the matter in any manner it sees fit.
