Powers of Corporation
10. Powers of Corporation
(1) The Corporation may do anything necessary or convenient for or in
connection with, or incidental to, the performance of its functions.
(2) Without limiting subsection (1), the Corporation may-
(a) enter into arrangements to make use of or to manage existing sporting
facilities, services and activities or to establish sporting
facilities, and conduct or facilitate services and activities in
connection with the holding of the Championships;
(b) carry out any works necessary for the matters referred to in paragraph
(a);
(c) enter into contracts, agreements, leases and licences;
(d) acquire or dispose of real or personal property;
(e) employ or engage staff or consultants;
(f) utilise the services of volunteers;
(g) appoint agents and attorneys and act as agent;
(h) control and manage Championships venues and designated access areas
during the access period and the event period;
(i) charge and collect fees for admission to Championships venues
or events or activities associated with the Championships;
(j) undertake promotional or advertising activities, including promoting
Melbourne and Victoria as tourist destinations;
(k) publish or produce material or things relating to the Championships or
events or activities associated with the Championships;
(l) control access and entry to Championships venues or designated access
areas during the access period and the event period;
(m) with the approval of the Minister, after consultation with the
Treasurer, form, or participate in the formation of, a body corporate,
association, partnership, trust or other body or enter into a joint
venture with another person or other persons.
