Whistleblowers Protection Act 2001 - SECT 61AA

Definitions

61AA. Definitions



(1) In this Division-



authorised officer means-

   (a)  the Director; or

   (b)  a member of staff of the Office of Police Integrity who is authorised
        under subsection (2); or

   (c)  a person who has taken an oath or made an affirmation under
        section 18(2) of the Police Integrity Act 2008 and who is authorised
        under subsection (2); chief executive, of a public authority, means-

   (a)  in relation to the police force-the Chief Commissioner of Police; or

   (b)  in relation to a public service body within the meaning of the
        Public Administration Act 2004-the public service body Head of the
        public service body within the meaning of that Act; or

   (c)  in relation to any other body, whether or not incorporated,
        established by or under an Act for a public purpose-the chief
        executive officer, by whatever name called, of the body; court day
        means a day on which the registry of the Magistrates' Court is open
        for business; public authority means-

   (a)  the police force; or

   (b)  a public service body within the meaning of the
        Public Administration Act 2004; or

   (c)  any other body, whether or not incorporated, established by or under
        an Act for a public purpose.

(2) The Director may authorise a member of staff of the Office of Police
Integrity or a person who has taken an oath or made an affirmation under
section 18(2) of the Police Integrity Act 2008 to exercise the powers of an
authorised officer under this Division.
