What are the Ombudsman's functions under the Act?

38. What are the Ombudsman's functions under the Act?



The Ombudsman's functions under this Act are-

   (a)  to determine whether disclosures are public interest disclosures;

   (b)  to investigate matters disclosed in public interest disclosures;

   (c)  to prepare and publish guidelines for the procedures to be followed by
        public bodies in relation to-

   (i)  disclosures under Part 2; and

   (ii) investigations under Part 6; and

   (d)  to monitor investigations by public bodies under Part 6; and

   (e)  to monitor investigations by the Chief Commissioner of Police under
        Part 7; and

   (f)  to review the procedures and the implementation of procedures of
        public bodies in relation to-

   (i)  disclosures under Part 2; and

   (ii) investigations under Part 6;

   (g)  any other function conferred on the Ombudsman by or under this Act.
