What happens if it is concluded that a disclosure is a public interest disclosure?

34. What happens if it is concluded that a disclosure is a public interest
disclosure?



(1) If, under section 33, the Director or Chief Commissioner of Police
concludes that a disclosure is a public interest disclosure, he or she must
within 14 days-

   (a)  notify the person who made the disclosure of that conclusion; and

   (b)  refer the disclosure to the Ombudsman for a determination as to
        whether it is a public interest disclosure.

(2) The Director or Chief Commissioner of Police is not required to notify
under this section a person who made an anonymous disclosure.
