Power of registrar to obtain information

40. Power of registrar to obtain information



(1) A registrar may, in relation to an application for assistance-

   (a)  inspect any court register; or

   (b)  by notice in writing require a person, within a specified period of
        time, to provide to the registrar any information or produce to the
        registrar any documents relevant to the application.

(2) A person to whom a notice is given under subsection (1)(b) may be-

   (a)  a person employed or engaged to provide services to-

   (i)  a government department; or

   (ii) a body providing health services; or

   (iii) any other body of any kind whatsoever; or

   (b)  the Chief Commissioner of Police; or

   (c)  any other person whatsoever.

(3) The registrar may extend or further extend the period specified in the
notice under subsection (1)(b) for compliance with the requirement.

(4) A person to whom a notice is given under subsection (1)(b) must comply
with the notice.

Penalty: 10 penalty units.
