Transport Act 1983 - SCHEDULE 2



PARTICULAR POWERS OF THE CORPORATION
1. Subject to the approval of the Minister-

   (a)  to participate in the formation of a corporation, trust, partnership
        or other body;

   (b)  to subscribe for or otherwise acquire, and to hold and dispose of,
        shares in or debentures or other securities of, a corporation;

   (c)  to become a member of a company limited by guarantee;

   (d)  to subscribe for or otherwise acquire, and to hold and dispose of,
        units in a trust;

   (e)  to acquire, and to hold and dispose of, an interest in a partnership
        or other body; and

   (f)  to enter into partnership or into any arrangement for sharing of
        profits, union of interest, co-operation, joint venture, reciprocal
        concession or otherwise, with any person or corporation carrying on or
        engaged in, or about to carry on or engage in, any business or
        transaction whether within or outside the State capable of being
        conducted so as directly or indirectly to benefit the Corporation.
2. To enter into an agreement or contract with a government department or any
other public statutory body or the National Rail Corporation Limited with
respect to-





   (a)  the exercise by the Corporation and a government department or other
        public statutory body or the National Rail Corporation Limited (as the
        case requires) of their respective functions or the carrying out or
        providing by the Corporation for a government department or other
        public statutory body or the National Rail Corporation Limited (as the
        case requires) of any works or services; or

   (b)  the use or joint use by the Corporation and a government department or
        other public statutory body or the National Rail Corporation Limited
        (as the case requires) of their respective facilities or the services
        of their respective staff.

3. To enter into an agreement on transport matters with a department or public
statutory body in another State or Territory of Australia or in the
Commonwealth or with the National Rail Corporation Limited.
4. To compound and agree with any person who has entered into any contract
with the Corporation or with any person of whom the Corporation is the
successor in law or against whom any action or suit is brought for any penalty
contained in any such contract or in any bond or other security for the
performance thereof or for or on account of any breach or non-performance of
any such contract, bond or security for such sum of money or other recompense
as the Corporation may think proper.
5. With the approval of the Minister, to make a loan to a person employed to
carry out duties for the Corporation for the purposes of assisting that person
to purchase, whether alone or together with another person, a dwelling-house
for use as his residence.
6. After giving reasonable notice in writing to the occupier, to enter at any
reasonable hour in the day-time into and upon any building and inspect, make
measurements and drawings and take photographs thereof and take such other
measures as the Corporation may think necessary to ascertain the construction
and condition of the building.
