Service of documents

45. Service of documents



(1) A document required or permitted by or under this Act to be served may be
served-

   (a)  in the case of service on an offender, by delivering it personally to
        the offender; or

   (b)  in the case of service on the Secretary, by sending it by post
        addressed to the Secretary at the principal office of the Department.

(2) If it appears to the court to which an application under Part 2 is made,
by evidence on oath or by affidavit, that personal service on the offender
cannot be, or is unlikely to be, promptly effected, the court may make an
order for substituted service.
