Applications for change of name by or on behalf of a registrable offender

70C. Applications for change of name by or on behalf of a registrable offender



(1) A registrable offender must not-

   (a)  apply to the Victorian Registrar to register a change of his or her
        name under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1996; or





   (b)  apply to an Interstate Registrar to register a change of his or her
        name under a law of another State or Territory that is the equivalent
        of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1996-

without having first obtained the written approval of the Chief Commissioner
of Police. Penalty: 5 penalty units.

(2) A person must not, on behalf of a registrable offender-

   (a)  apply to the Victorian Registrar to register a change of his or her
        name under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1996; or

   (b)  apply to an Interstate Registrar to register a change of his or her
        name under a law of another State or Territory that is the equivalent
        of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1996-

without having first obtained the written approval of the Chief Commissioner
of Police. Penalty: 5 penalty units.
