Powers in relation to monitoring
66C. Powers in relation to monitoring
(1) An authorised officer may, after notifying the Chief Commissioner of
Police of the intended entry-
(a) enter at any time premises occupied by the police force at which the
Director reasonably believes there are documents that contain, or
relate to, the Register of Sex Offenders or any part of that Register
or that are relevant to the Director's functions under this Part; and
(b) inspect or copy any document found at any premises entered under
paragraph (a); and
(c) do anything that it is necessary or convenient to do to enable an
inspection to be carried out under this section.
(2) For the purposes of this section, an authorised officer is-
(a) the Director; or
(b) a member of staff of the Office of Police Integrity within the meaning
of the Police Integrity Act 2008 who is authorised under subsection
(3); or
(c) a person who has taken an oath or made an affirmation under
section 18(2) of the Police Integrity Act 2008 and who is authorised
under subsection (3).
(3) The Director may authorise a member of staff of the Office of Police
Integrity or a person who has taken an oath or made an affirmation under
section 18(2) of the Police Integrity Act 2008 to exercise the powers of an
authorised officer under this section.
