The long title for the Bill for this Act was "to give effect within Victoria to the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, and to make certain amendments to the Instruments Act 1958 and the Goods Act 1958 and for other purposes.".
The Sale of Goods (Vienna Convention) Act 1987 was assented to on 12 May 1987 and came into operation as follows:
Parts 1 and 3 on 12 May 1987: section 2(1); Part 2 on 1 April 1989: Government Gazette 22 March 1989 page 652.
