Appointment of special investigators

77. Appointment of special investigators

(1) The Treasurer may appoint persons as special investigators, on such terms
and conditions as are specified in the instrument of appointment or as varied
by a later instrument.

(2) The function of a special investigator is to investigate a prescribed body
generally, or in relation to specific matters or affairs of the prescribed
body, as directed by the Treasurer from time to time.

(3) The powers of a special investigator extend not only to the matters or
affairs specified in the Treasurer's direction but also to any other matter of
which the investigator becomes aware and which the investigator considers
should be brought to the attention of the Treasurer or any other person.

(4) If 2 or more special investigators have been appointed under this Part to
investigate particular matters, each of those investigators may exercise
powers or perform duties under this Part independently of the other.

(5) A special investigator may, with the consent of the Treasurer, delegate
any of the powers of a special investigator under this Part, except this power
of delegation, to a person approved by the Treasurer.
